UFC 278 took place on Saturday night in Miami, Florida with former President Donald Trump in attendance, which led to a wild political interview from UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal after his matchup against Gilbert Burns.
Masvidal unfortunately didn’t have too much success on Saturday night, convincingly losing to Burns via unanimous decision. However, he was interviewed after the fight and made a number of shocking announcements.
Masvidal, who has 53 professional fights in his career, revealed that he will officially be retiring from the sport of MMA.
“I love everybody here. Thanks to everybody for watching. But this is where I started my career. It’s been a long 20 years, and I don’t feel the same when I get in here anymore.”
After continuing to thank his fans for their support throughout his career, the interview then took a far different turn. Masvidal quickly turned things political, praising Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
“Also I want to say, the greatest president in the history of the world is sitting right there,” Masvidal said as he pointed to Trump. “I love that guy. We also have the greatest governor of all time here in Florida. Let’s keep Florida free.”
Masvidal continued to bash Joe Biden, even starting a “Let’s Go Brandon” chant from the crowd in attendance.
“Let’s take that, you know who, that Let’s go Brandon ************ out of power. If I can get everyone one time, Let’s Go Brandon!”
This controversial interview from Masvidal obviously generated a wide range of reactions from the sports world.

Going on a wild political rant when talking about his retirement is certainly a weird way to end things for Masvidal. Regardless, he certainly made his opinions on both Trump and Biden very clear.
