After realizing there would be no more doors opened for him in the NFL, Greg Hardy says he is now training for a life in the world of mixed martial arts. The former defensive end of the Dallas Cowboys confirmed his new career path, as reported by MMA Fighting.
“I’m very focused and excited to start my MMA career,” Hardy said in a statement provided to MMAFighting.com. “I’m going to do this the right way, I can assure you of that.”
Yeah, we’ll see about that. The former NFL defensive star was recently busted for drug possession. The entire risk of signing Hardy was admitted to be a mistake by Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones, despite publicly being defended by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on multiple occasions in the last year. Hardy and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, tried to spin the redemption tour this offseason, but nobody in the NFL took the bait.
So consider this Plan B for Hardy. Fortunately for him, he’ll actually be allowed to hit some people here. The only problem is they’ll be punching back.
Given Hardy’s reputation, folks on Twitter were full of comments about his new sport.

Even noted NFL insider and MMA superfan Jay Glazer is not happy to see this news.
We all know the dream matchup we want to see, right?
