The New York Yankees have been under fire as of late with a number of controversies. Nothing came of star outfielder Aaron Judge receiving cheating allegations for strangely looking over to the Yankees dugout earlier this week. Starting pitcher Domingo German wasn’t so lucky.
German took the mound on Tuesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, where he had an early exit for another controversial reason.
He would be ejected after the bottom of the third inning of Tuesday’s game after failing to pass a foreign substance check by umpires in between innings.
This put him in line to be dealt a ten-game suspension, which was made official on Wednesday after German declined to appeal the suspension. He will also be dealt an “undisclosed fine” according to Yankees beat reporter Bryan Hoch.
It is the second time that this has happened in the MLB this season. New York Mets ace Max Scherzer also was dealt a ten-game suspension earlier this year for foreign substances.
Many around the MLB world took to social media to offer their opinion on the suspension.

As expected, Domingo German has officially received a 10-game suspension and a fine and he will begin serving it tonight. He will be eligible to return next Sunday which is the Yankees final game against the Padres on their upcoming homestand. #RepBX

German offered a statement on the suspension via MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, saying that the Yankees actually asked him to not appeal the suspension.
German has been a big part of the Yankees rotation this season, holding their second-best ERA of all starting pitchers on the team this season.
Luckily for New York, it looks like they will be getting back another star pitcher as German departs for ten games. Luis Severino is set to come off the IL and make his first start of the season on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.
