Kansas City Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson provided a Catch of the Year candidate on Thursday night, when he became the first player to ever rob a homer at Marlins Park.
Miami’s Christian Yelich crushed one to deep center field, and appeared to have his 16th dinger of the season, but Dyson ran 98 feet before climbing the wall to make this absurd catch:
Just an amazing play, and one that will be hard to top this season.
It also could end up being a very big play in a game involving two teams that are in the playoff race (Royals are 5 games back for the AL Wild Card, Marlins are 1.5 back for the NL Wild Card), as the Royals have a one-run lead in the sixth inning at the time of this post.
