Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton is the fastest player in baseball, and he showed off that speed on defense Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Rangers’ Carlos Beltran hit a ball to deep left-center field, and it looked like an automatic extra-base hit. But, Hamilton unbelievably ran 123 feet to make a diving catch at full speed, with Statcast measuring his top speed at 22.0 mph.
That ball had no business being caught. An absolutely ridiculous play.
