It’s been about eight-and-a-half years since Nationals Park opened in Washington D.C. Yet, fans have quickly forgotten how the Washington Nationals found a permanent home.

On Thursday, one fan on Twitter mentioned the Washington D.C. City Council how it planned to help the Nationals’ push for a World Series run. The City Council had a quick — and rather pointed — response to the fan’s inquiry.

Whoa. Though the City Council’s response might seem a bit whiny, it has a point. The city of D.C. basically footed the entire bill for Washington’s new digs. Meanwhile, the other parties involved basically sat around and cashed checks.

But despite a crappy deal, this council seems okay with getting ripped off again. This time, it comes with D.C. United, who talked to the city into giving them land for a new stadium.

When will you ever learn, D.C.?
