Thursday night was a good night for sports in the city of Milwaukee. The Bucks blew out the Raptors in the NBA Playoffs, and then the Brewers held off the Cardinals for a 7-5 victory to get back above .500 at 9-8.

The biggest highlight of the evening with this moonshot by Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead in the first inning:

What a bomb.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, not only did the 465-foot dinger tie Kris Bryant’s for the longest home run of the season, but it was also the hardest hit of the year at 116.9 MPH off the bat.

For those keeping track, that is Shaw’s third straight game with a home run, and fourth in the last five, after he hit just one home run in his first 11 games.

Meanwhile, teammate Eric Thames also went yard for his league-leading eighth homer of the year.

Just how impressive has the Brewers’ power display been in the early going? Their 32 homers are seven more than any team has, and 25 (!) more than the Red Sox have.

Ad Milwaukee actually acquired Travis Shaw in a trade with the Red Sox over the offseason.
