On Thursday night, a cat in the outfield caused a delay during the San Antonio Missions’ (Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres) game at Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium. That was a funny, fairly adorable moment (despite being a feisty cat).

But the animal-caused delay at Friday night’s San Antonio game was NOT a funny, fairly adorable moment.

In the eighth inning, a big-ass snake slithered around the outfield, and the Missions’ grounds crew had the terrifying task of trying to trap it. I would’ve 100% quit the job on the spot, but props to these tough, highly underpaid fellas for their capture.

As you can see in the Missions’ broadcast video of the incident, the game was played for at least two minutes before the players or umpires noticed the snake.

Imagine playing center field and just turning around to see that thing.

  1. Horrible reporting! What kind of snake is it please. Rattler, Copperhead, Moccasin?
