Seven-year-old Hailey Dawson was born without three fingers on her right hand due to a a rare disease called Poland Syndrome, but has a 3D-printed prosthetic hand and wants to throw out the first pitch at all 30 MLB ballparks. She threw out first pitches at Nationals Park and Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and then got offers from many other MLB teams.
And on Saturday night at Minute Maid Park, Hailey got to throw out the first pitch to AL MVP candidate Jose Altuve at Game 4 of the Astros-Dodgers World Series.
Hailey — a Las Vegas native — also got to spend a moment with Houston’s Justin Verlander, and the star pitcher gave her these special cleats with a “Vegas Strong” inscription.
