The career of former All-Star outfielder Lorenzo Cain appeared to be in question last season after he was released by the Milwaukee Brewers. There are no more questions.
He officially called it quits on his MLB career earlier this week.
Cain reportedly had offers from the Los Angeles Dodgers last year to help with their postseason push. He turned down the offers, opting instead to consult his kids who wanted him to stay at home last summer.
“I left it in the hands of my boys,” Cain told Andy McCullough of The Athletic. “I said, ‘Hey, do you guys want Daddy to continue to play ball? Or are you ready for Daddy to be done and go home?’ And they said, ‘Dad, we want you to go home.’ And I said, ‘Ok then.’ So I’ve been done. I just haven’t announced it, I guess.”
This has led to Cain officially passing on a notice to The Athletic that he is officially retired from MLB. Many fans took notice of this news and wish him the best in his retirement.
Great career for Lorenzo Cain! I remember seeing him several times during his Class A days with the West Virginia Power! Congratulations! https://t.co/B83Or2vSTv

The best stretch of his MLB career clearly came during his time with the Kansas City Royals. Cain played seven years with the Royals and played a huge role in the team’s World Series Championship in 2015.
He plans to retire as a member of the Royals organization. He will do so officially when a ceremony is set to be held for him later this summer.
Cain was always one of the more underrated players in baseball, but he certainly made his mark on both the Royals and Brewers organizations throughout his 13-year MLB career.
