The Kansas City Royals completed a series sweep of the Houston Astros on Thursday. KC pounced on Houston and scored a ridiculous nine runs in the first stanza. They went on to win 13-3. But the star of the day by far was Bobby Witt Jr.
The dynamite Royals shortstop was pivotal in the victory. Witt Jr. went 4-for-5 with two home runs. That included a blast late in the game to salt the game away. The blast brought him up to a boast-worthy five RBI on the afternoon against Houston.
Witt Jr. was also involved in a bizarre play earlier in the day. He collided with a fellow Royals infielder trying to field the ball. Still, Witt Jr. wriggled out of trouble and made sure to make the throw to first base anyway!
A very normal groundout played by the Kansas City Royals defense.

Royals fans will be happy to see Witt Jr. play ball for a long time, and Thursday was another indicator of that. The star shortstop raised his line to .358/.414/.755 with his prodigious performance on Thursday.
He has four homers on the year with 13 runs scored. Witt has been one of the best players in baseball this season behind the likes of Mookie Betts, Anthony Volpe, Juan Soto, Mike Trout, and others.
The MLB world had much to say about Witt’s prolific performance.
