22-year-old Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. showed off his incredible power in the Braves’ first plate appearance on Friday night against the Boston Red Sox.
Acuña got a hitter’s count on 3-1, and certainly made the most of it with a blast that went 495 feet.
That’s the longest home run of the 2020 MLB season, and the fifth-longest since Statcast began tracking batted ball data.
Acuña has been one of the best hitters in baseball this season, with 14 home runs and a 1.013 OPS. And that 1.013 OPS is even lower than two of his teammates, Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna (whose season deserves more love).
