Monday’s matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals featured a terrific start early on from star pitcher Jacob DeGrom. However, an early exit from DeGrom has raised concerns from the MLB world.
DeGrom had it going early and often, recording four innings of no-hit pitching, completely stifling the Royals’ offense on Monday night.
He frequently flashed the arm talent that earned him two Cy Young awards over his ten-year MLB career, frequently hitting 100 mph throughout his start.
Unfortunately, his start ended abruptly after only four innings and 58 pitches on the night. This led to some justified concerns from the MLB world considering his lengthy injury history in the past.

DeGrom notably missed large portions of both the 2022 and 2021 seasons due to shoulder and forearm trouble. Fortunately, this injury does not appear to be as concerning as those ailments.
The Rangers PR team released an update on social media after DeGrom’s early departure, detailing that he was removed as a precaution due to right wrist soreness.
There will surely be further updates in the future on DeGrom’s health, but hopefully this incident is a short-term injury and he will be able to return quickly.
One positive for the Rangers is that they were able to come away with a 4-0 victory over Kansas City despite DeGrom’s early exit.
This win propels them to a 10-6 record early on in the season, which they will hopefully look to build on with Jacob DeGrom leading their pitching rotation.
