On Wednesday night at Petco Park, Manny Machado showed why the San Diego Padres were willing to give him a $300 million contract.
With the Texas Rangers leading the Padres 3-2 in the bottom of the 10th, Machado blasted a full-count pitch over the left-center field wall for a walk-off grand slam in a 6-3 San Diego win.
The Padres have now hit grand slams in three consecutive games (you may have heard about one of those other grand slams), becoming the first team to do so since the Chicago White Sox did in 2006.
Machado has put together incredible moments both offensively and defensively of late, and it’s helped the upstart Padres have a 14-12 record.
