It’s been a rough season for the Oakland Athletics both on and off of the field. But for seven innings on Tuesday, fans at the Oakland Coliseum were given a lot to cheer for.
Then, the final two innings were played.
Pitcher Mason Miller made his third career start for the A’s and was unhittable — literally. Miller pitched seven no-hit innings. And while the Oakland offense wasn’t exactly dominant, the A’s did scratch a run across the board on an RBI double from Esteury Ruiz in the sixth inning staking Miller to a 1-0 lead.
For as much as they've purged their roster, the A's may have something with Mason Miller.

But while the Mariners couldn’t get a hit off of Miller, they did get some pitches out of him. Four walks and six strikeouts ran his pitch count up. After seven innings and 100 pitches, he was pulled. That did not go well, at least for the A’s.
Seattle’s A.J. Pollock tied the game with a solo home run. Then, Jarred Kelenic hit an RBI double, scoring José Caballero to put the Mariners up 2-1. That was the final.
The MLB world was quick to talk about Miller’s great outing, as well as what the bullpen did after it.
A's find out having a starting pitcher throw seven no-hit innings still isn't enough to get him a win. Fall 2-1 to Mariners . . .

Let the kid finish his work, A’s. No early hook. You have the worst bullpen in MLB history and it’s a 1 run game.
Or would a rookie’s no-hitter run the risk of filling a few seats next time he pitches? We know you don’t like it when people show up to the game.
