New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge continues to amaze.
Judge hit two more home runs in the Yankees‘ game against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night at Fenway Park, giving him 57 dingers on the season, and the Yankees still have 20 (regular-season) games remaining.
Each Judge home run tied the game for New York on Tuesday, with the second blast doing so in the top of the eighth inning.
(Update: New York went on to win 7-6 in 10 innings, so each Judge home run proved to be crucial.)
To go with the 57 homers, Judge has a .310/.414/.692 slash line and 206 wRC+. He’s been worth an absolutely ridiculous 9.6 wins above replacement (WAR) according to FanGraphs.
Judge is putting together a historic season, and it’s going to be very interesting to see where the numbers end up when the season ends. And if he tops the Roger Maris mark of 61 homers (set with the Yankees in 1961), there will be plenty of debate on if Judge is the true home run king, with many baseball fans tossing a giant asterisk on the steroid era (Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa).
Here’s a peek at how the baseball world is reacting to Judge crushing two more bombs to reach 57 home runs with a few weeks still to go in the 2022 MLB regular season:
