It’s a big night in Major League Baseball for animal enthusiasts. An elusive cat on the field caused a delay during game action at Yankee Stadium on Monday night, and an even more unusual situation took place during the Washington Nationals’ game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Nats Park.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, a praying mantis was on the hat of Nats center fielder Victor Robles in the Washington dugout. He even played the ninth inning with the praying mantis still on his head.
It’s unclear when Robles learned about the praying mantis being on his head, but he embraced it while playing center field, and even kept the insect informed on how many outs there were.
Unfortunately for Robles and the Nats, the Mantis’ rallying powers weren’t enough in a 7-5 loss to the Phillies.
