It’s really been incredible how the New York Mets keeping finding new ways to be involved in the headlines, and for reasons that have little to do with good baseballing.
There’s been all the drama surrounding pitcher Matt Harvey, there was the photo — tweeted out by the Mets — that featured a dildo randomly hanging out in Kevin Plawecki’s locker, there was ace Noah Syndergaard suffering a torn lat muscle just days after refusing an MRI, there are the constant questions about manager Terry Collins’ job status… it goes on and on. Oh, and the Tim Tebow circus.
And now we have Mr. Met flipping off a fan during Wednesday night’s game at Citi Field:

The Mets quickly issued an apology on Twitter for the “inappropriate action of this employee”, which we can only believe is Mr. Met.
We can already assume what Mr. Met will argue in an effort to save his job.

UPDATE: According to Bleacher Report, the person wearing the costume will no longer be Mr. Met.
A source within the Mets organization told the AP the job of playing Mr. Met changes throughout the season, and the person handling the duty Wednesday has been removed from the rotation.
