Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts is well known across Major League Baseball for his incredible bat, his strong power, and his defensive prowess. But on Monday, he made positive headlines for reasons that had nothing to do with his baseball ability.
During the middle of the third inning of Monday night’s game between the Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers, Betts noticed a young fan holding a sign that read “Mookie wanna play catch?” So the star outfielder decided to make the young man’s day.
Betts didn’t just throw the ball one time to the young fan; the six-time All-Star outfielder stayed the entire half inning, tossing the ball back and forth with the fan until it was time for him to start the next half inning. Betts finished the encounter by waving as he threw one last toss to the fan, letting him keep the ball.
Naturally, the Major League Baseball world had plenty to say about Betts’ kindness towards the young fan, with plenty of people taking to Twitter to praise the Dodgers superstar.
It’s always good to see a star athlete making headlines for all the right reasons, just like Betts did in this heartwarming moment.
