According to CBS LA, Angels’ star Mike Trout was involved in a serious crash on the 55 Freeway Wednesday night. Here’s the report:

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was not injured in a heavy-rescue crash on the 55 Freeway , Wednesday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

A young woman was trapped in her car and fire fighters had to use the jaws of life to free her. Trout was not charged in the crash.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. on the southbound 55 at McFadden Avenue in Tustin when traffic was slowing for a crash up ahead. Trout’s car and two other cars collided while trying to stop for the original crash, the CHP said.

Trout had the day off Wednesday, and the Angels beat the Reds 3-0 at home in Anaheim without him. The initial reports don’t make it sound like he was hurt or criminally at fault here, but that’s still not news the Angels would want to see. We’ll see if anything more comes from this.
