If you have missed baseball and cannot possibly wait until Spring Training or the World Baseball Classic, you can watch the Caribbean Series.
The tournament takes place this week and pits the winter league champions from four different countries and Puerto Rico to see who is the best team in Latin America.
The host nation Mexico sure made the fans happy last night. Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth, catcher Sebasatian Valle ripped a walk-off grand slam to defeat Venezuela 5-1.
Mexico and Cuba are the only teams undefeated so far and it’s likely the two will face each other in the championship game this Tuesday.
The 26-year-old Valle has been with the Mexico National Team since being on the squad in the previous World Baseball Classic in 2013. Bouncing around the minor leagues, Valle currently has a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners as he continues his dream of making it to “The Show.”
With the upcoming World Baseball Classic as well as this monstrous home run, Valle is really doing the right things at the right time in order to maybe move up through the Mariners farm system.
