Thor is coming to Westeros.
Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports that Noah Syndergaard filmed a cameo on Game of Thrones in Spain back in November. The New York Mets’ star won’t play a vital role in season seven, but will appear in a cameo:
Game of Thrones is no stranger to celebrity cameos, as metal band Mastodon played members of the Wildlings back in season five. Icelandic band Sigur Rós also filmed a cameo in season four, with king-asshole Joffrey throwing coins at them.
Syndergaard isn’t even the first baseball player to play a background character in a popular fantasy drama series. Toronto Blue Jays and former AL MVP winner Josh Donaldson filmed a cameo for Games of Thrones-lite Vikings more than a year ago. Donning full viking garb, Donaldson’s acting debut when off relatively well.
Nicknamed “Thor” for his Asgardian hairdo, Syndergaard revealed he was invited to the show, and as a fan, couldn’t decline:
“They just know that I’m a fan and they invited me to do that,” Syndergaard told MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. “I couldn’t say no.”
Standing at 6’6″ and armed with luscious locks, Syndergaard has potential playing both a member of Jon Snow’s army or an insidious white walker. Personally, I’d love to see him in full makeup and getting sliced in half by a Valyrian steel sword. If I’m Syndergaard he’d dig it too.
