Seattle Mariners left fielder Guillermo Heredia made an incredible grab to rob the Angels’ Andrelton Simmons of what appeared to be a potential home run on Wednesday night at Safeco Field.
With two on and no outs for the Angels in the top of the sixth, Simmons smoked a ball to the left field wall, where Heredia made a leaping catch on the run.
It’s tough to tell if it would’ve been a homer for sure, but Heredia’s glove ended up over the wall after the grab. At the very least it should’ve resulted in extra bases and two runs for the Angels. Instead, Simmons had to settle for a sacrifice fly. But the Angels’ shortstop can’t really complain too much, as he’s known for robbing teams with insane defense more than anyone in baseball.
Anyhoo, here’s video of Heredia’s amazing catch:
The run(s?) saved by Heredia ended up being huge, as the Mariners won by just one run, 8-7.
