Kyle Schwarber is on a ridiculous home run tear. The Washington Nationals’ slugger cranked two more blasts on Monday night against the Washington Nationals, giving him 24 homers on the season.
Having 24 dingers before the All-Star break is impressive enough in itself, but the rate Schwarber has been hitting bombs this month is particularly absurd. Schwarber has 15 homers over his last 17 games, and 11 homers over his last nine games.
Insane.
Schwarber struggled in 2020 with the Chicago Cubs (.188/.308/.393 slash line with 11 homers in 224 plate appearances), and the Cubs even non-tendered him over the offseason. After not drawing a lot of interest on the open market, Schwarber signed a one-year, $10 million deal with the Nats in January.
And it’s safe to say that deal is an incredible bargain for Washington (even if he didn’t play another game the rest of the season).
The 28-year-old outfielder has a .250/.334/.567 slash line with a .380 wOBA and 141 wRC+, and has been taking things a completely different level over the last few weeks.
