Kenny Lofton tossed out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday night, and he had a loyal Indians fan to thank for making it to the mound at all.

Lofton was flying to Cleveland from Los Angeles for the start of the World Series, but as anyone who has traveled can probably believe, there was a bit of an issue with just getting on the plane in the first place. Fearing he may not be able to make it to the game for the ceremonial first pitch, Lofton was fortunate a fan of the Cleveland Indians recognized him and helped him out.

Ken Kostal just so happened to be waiting to get on a delayed flight as Lofton was sorting through his travel hiccup. Just then, Kostal stepped in and offered to give Lofton his seat on the plane.

So Lofton made it to Cleveland and fulfilled his duties as the special guest. The Indians went on to win the opener. Kostal was likely watching somewhere, but his good deed will not go unrecognized and unrewarded by the Indians. The team is making sure Kostal can attend a game in the World Series.

That’s a great move by the Indians, but what if there is no Game 6?
