The third baseman of the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers isn’t going elsewhere in 2021. Justin Turner revealed that he is returning to the Dodgers. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Turner’s deal is for two years at “more than $30 million.”
Turner was a big part of the Dodgers’ success where in the shortened 2020 season, Turner averaged .307 batting with a .400 OBP and 23 RBI in 42 games. In the World Series, Turner hit two home runs against the Rays and got eight hits in 25 at bats. Both homers took place in the first inning of Game’s 3 and 4 and Turner became the first person to hit first inning home runs in back-to-back World Series games.
Turner was also infamous for testing positive for COVID-19 during the Game 6 clincher. Instead of separating himself and quarantining, Turner returned to the field to take a team photo and was not wearing a mask.
The Dodgers are already one of the favorites to win the World Series in 2021 and keeping someone who helped get them the title will certainly help.
