The Chicago White Sox have faced numerous injuries this year, including ones to stars Luis Robert and Eloy Jiménez. On Friday, another key player for them, first baseman José Abreu (the 2020 AL MVP, who’s ), left their game against the Kansas City Royals following a collision with Royals’ third baseman Hunter Dozier (who also exited the game). Dozier hit a pop-up and started running to first, getting around Chicago catcher Yasmani Grandal but then colliding with Abreu:
Both players were down for a while and were attended to by medical staff, but were eventually able to stand and leave the field. Here’s the update on Abreu the White Sox tweeted:
And here’s the update on Dozier the Royals tweeted:
Hunter Dozier was removed from today's game with a quad contusion and neck discomfort. He is day-to-day. #Royals

Day-to-day isn’t a bad designation considering how rough this looked, but this still was a frightening collision. Hopefully both players (seen above in the aftermath of the collision) will be able to return to the lineup soon.
