Javier Baez became known for his insane defensive plays (especially the tags) during the Cubs’ championship run last season, and while most of those plays came as a second baseman, Baez actually came up as a shortstop.
And Baez has been playing shortstop much more for the Cubs this season with Addison Russell having a lingering shoulder issue. The 24-year-old got the start at shortstop tonight, and showed that he can also make amazing plays on that side of the infield.
Watch Baez rob Bryce Harper of a single with this ridiculous full-extension diving play on a line drive:
That play really shouldn’t be possible.
UPDATE: He made another completely absurd play later in the game!
