The Cubs’ Javier Baez has plenty of hustle, and he put it to use — after first base, anyway — when his deep fly ball right-center field took a funky hop off the wall, caroming away from Giants right fielder Carlos Moncrief. Moncrief made up for it with an incredible, one-hop throw to the plate, but Baez just barely squeezed in with a headfirst slide.
Javy can thank AT&T Park’s wacky design for that one. Not all too different from Diamondbacks shortstop Ketel Marte’s inside-the-park dinger just a few days back.
Ketel Marte rips a hit that bounces off the wall in right, then hustles home to score on an inside-the-park home run in the 3rd inning!!! pic.twitter.com/2c5H2KWIDt
