Cleveland Guardians prospect George Valera is expected to receive the big-league call-up sooner rather than later for the organization. A ridiculous play for their Triple-A affiliate on Tuesday night may help expedite that.

Valera, a member of the Columbus Clippers, made a ridiculous catch in the top of the eighth inning against the St. Paul Saints.

Clippers shortstop Daniel Schneemann tracked the foul ball into deep left field and attempted to make the play himself. He nearly did so, but the ball popped out of his glove as he tried to make the catch.

Luckily Valera was also tracking the ball from left field and keep his composure as the ball popped up into the air from Schneemann’s glove. Valera slid and made the excellent play on what would have been a rough drop from Schneemann.

Many around the MLB world took notice of this play and are extremely eager to see him at the MLB level.

Valera was also solid at the plate on Tuesday night, recording an RBI double while hitting the ball extremely hard which is a great sign for his potential MLB hopes.

The 22-year-old outfielder is the No. 3 prospect in the Guardians farm system. He also sits as the No. 41 prospect in all of baseball.

It seems like it is only a matter of time until he ultimately receives the big lead call, especially since the Guardians are struggling at the moment with a 19-22 record.
