When someone catches a home run ball, they might give it to their kid or get it signed or put it in a case. If you’re a dog and you catch a home run ball, you just got yourself a new toy to play with.
That’s probably what was going on in this good doggie’s mind as they suddenly noticed a brand new ball in the upper deck at Citi Field. On Bark at the Park night, the dog scooped up the ball and had themself a good ol’ time.
It takes a lot to overshadow back-to-back-to-back home runs but a good dog catching a home run would do just that. In the bottom of the first, the Mets’ first three batters hit home runs. First was leadoff man Brandon Nimmo who got things started. Then Francisco Lindor hit the homer that the dog caught. And last but not least, Jeff McNeil hit the third straight home run, the first three runs of what turned out to be a seven run first inning.
For some, this first inning home run feat was better than the one in Texas as Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run in the first inning.
