Friday night’s game between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers got absolutely bonkers in the late innings.
First, Buster Posey — who’s back to playing like an MVP — crushed a three-run homer off Blake Treinen to give the Giants a 5-2 lead in the top of the eighth.
It was still 5-2 when Austin Barnes stepped up to the plate as a pinch-hitter for the Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth, and he sent a Tyler Rogers offering over the left field wall for a game-tying three-run dinger.
This game was already crazy enough, and then another unbelievable play happened in the next plate appearance.
Just two weeks after signing with the Dodgers, it appeared that Albert Pujols had cranked a walk-off home run. But Giants left fielder Mike Tauchman reached over the wall to rob Pujols and send the game into extra innings.
Here’s how it looked on each team’s broadcast (Jon Miller with the call on the Giants broadcast, and Joe Davis with the call on the Dodgers broadcast):

Amazing.
The Giants quickly took advantage of Tauchman keeping the game alive, putting together a three-run top of the 10th inning against Kenley Jansen.

And that 8-5 score would go on to be the final. Wild win for the Giants.
