The remarkably-implausible plot of 1993’s Rookie of the Year sees 12-year-old Henry Rowengartner (Thomas Ian Nicholas) signed to the Chicago Cubs after breaking his arm, having his tendons heal “a little too tight,” and then demonstrating his arm strength by throwing an opposing home run back at Wrigley Field and having the ball go all the way to home plate. In real life, Nicholas threw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field Saturday, but the real Rookie of the Year comparison came at Boston’s Fenway Park, where a Red Sox fan threw a home run from the Yankees’ Giancarlo Stanton back so hard that it hit Stanton on one bounce after he rounded second:

And yes, that led to a lot of Rowengartner jokes:
The @RedSox need to sign this guy ASAP. Last time this happened Henry Rowengartner was Rookie of the Year pic.twitter.com/Zdd27WqA5l

No word on if the Red Sox will actually sign this fan and have him trade barbs with Gary Busey.
