There are several outlets reporting on the story, but the details are currently vague. Hoy’s Dionisio Soldevila reports that Ortiz was shot during a burglary attempt, for example.
Ortiz, 43, was a 10-time All-Star, World Series MVP, three-time World Series champion, and hit 541 home runs over 20 MLB seasons (14 with the Red Sox, six with the Minnesota Twins). He retired following the 2016 season.
We’ll update this story as more details become available.
