When the Houston Astros won the World Series with a 5-1 Game 7 victory Wednesday night, shortstop Carlos Correa took full advantage of the moment. In the middle of an interview with Fox’s Ken Rosenthal, Correa said “I want to take another big step in my life,” pulled a ring out, and told his girlfriend “You make me the happiest man in the world. Will you marry me?” She accepted and kissed him:
That’s quite the moment. Correa later told MLB Network this added extra pressure to win:
Amazingly, this is the second-straight year the end of the World Series has involved a proposal, but last year’s involved fans with the trophy a few days later:
Stadium proposals don’t always end well and are often a bad idea. And many other sports-associated proposals have gone wrong. So congrats to Correa for pulling this off. And from that perspective, it’s a good thing the Astros won.
