Kansas City Royals rookie Bobby Witt Jr. is the top prospect in baseball according to many publications (including MLB.com) and evaluators. And on Tuesday night, Witt hit his first career home run in the Royals’ game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Witt golfed a pitch 417 feet into left-center for a solo dinger in the bottom of the second.
That’s the good news for Witt.
The bad news is that Cardinals outfielder Harrison Bader threw the ball into the fountain at Kauffman Stadium. Whoops.
Witt would surely like to have that baseball, and hopefully somebody on the stadium staff will be willing to go for a swim if necessary to retrieve it.
In addition to hitting his first career homer, Witt extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
This is just the beginning of what should be a very exciting career for Witt.
