Actor and comedian Bob Odenkirk had a well-documented health scare on July 27, when he suffered a small heart attack after collapsing on the set of Better Call Saul. Earlier this month, Odenkirk returned to work on Better Call Saul (the Breaking Bad spin-off prequel in which he plays Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill).
And on Friday night, Odenkirk threw out the ceremonial first pitch and sang the seventh-inning stretch — technically the fifth-inning stretch during a doubleheader — at the Chicago Cubs’ game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field. The lifelong Cubs fan even rocked a Frank Schwindel jersey and took a picture with the Cubs’ red-hot hitter showing it off.
Excellent work by Odenkirk on the first pitch and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” (significantly better efforts than Conor McGregor had earlier in the week). And it’s just great to see him healthy and in good spirits.
Also, he told Jon Sciambi and Jim Deshaies in the Marquee Sports Network booth that filming for Better Call Saul has gone very well, and we can expect Season 6 to arrive sometime in 2022.
