Kevin Kiermaier hasn’t ever been shy about showing off his defensive prowess. The three-time Gold Glove Award winner in center field has always had a penchant for making incredible plays. That trend continued in a stirring way on Thursday afternoon in Toronto. As the Blue Jays hosted the Milwaukee Brewers for the finale of a midweek series, Kiermaier grabbed the headlines — and the ball — in spectacular fashion.
Andruw Monasterio faced Kevin Gausman in the top of the 2nd inning. With a full count and 2 outs, Monasterio pelted one off Gausman that looked destined to land in the right-center field gap. Not if Kiermaier had anything to say about it, though! He went full extension in the warning track, made the catch, and slid safely and gracefully all the way to the wall!
Fellow outfielder George Springer was there to celebrate the huge catch after Kiermaier made it.

The MLB world reacted to the sensational catch.
“Should we expect anything less from Kevin Kiermaier?” MLB asked.
“This is one of the more remarkable catches I can remember seeing,” Sportsnet columnist Shi Davidi tweeted.
Sportsnet reacted to the catch by going crazy in all-caps.
An MLB researcher then proclaimed, “Kevin Kiermaier is truly one of the best defenders ever.” It’s become hard to really disagree with that!
