Advancing a base on a passed ball? Ho hum.
Going from second to home on said situation? That takes some guts, but it was exactly what Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton did on Tuesday afternoon against the Chicago Cubs.
Of course, it also helped that pitcher John Lackey didn’t cover home plate while catcher David Ross scampered to retrieve the ball.
Lackey must have forgotten that Hamilton, one of baseball’s fastest players who came into Tuesday’s game with 19 stolen bases and an impressive 145 in his 348 game major league career, was on second base.
Hamilton also ended up stealing three bags in the game, upping his season total to 22, third-most in the majors.
