There might not be another sport on the planet that sees as much controversy in its Hall of Fame voting as the Baseball Hall of Fame, and it looks like that is true once again this year as one Hall of Fame voter made quite a bizarre choice for the third ballot in a row.
According to Hall of Fame ballots tracker Anthony Calamis, Hall of Fame voter Ron Cook has left his ballot completely blank for the third straight time, refusing to vote for anyone. This is after he only voted for Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter with his two ballots.
“Ballot #77 is from Ron Cook. After voting just for Mariano and Jeter in 2019 and 2020, this is the third straight blank ballot Cook has submitted,” Calamis pointed out in a Tweet.
It’s worth noting that an individual Hall of Fame voter is allowed to vote for as many as 10 players on a single ballot. This means that Cook could have voted for as many as 50 players over the course of his previous five ballots. Instead, he has only voted for two.
It’s certainly an odd choice for a voter to simply refuse to vote for anyone, but it’s within his rights.
