Former United States President Barack Obama has made it no secret that he is an avid sports fan. He has been seen playing basketball himself on numerous occasions and he has long been an avid supporter of Chicago sports teams, including his beloved Chicago White Sox in Major League Baseball. But he didn’t let his fan loyalty get in the way of offering the Texas Rangers congratulations for their World Series Championship this week.
The Texas Rangers clinched their first-ever World Series title this week by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games. And as the team celebrated its victory, former president Barack Obama reached out on social media to offer his congratulations to the team.
“Congrats to the @Rangers on their first World Series title!” Obama said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.
It’s perfectly on brand for such an avid sports fan like Obama to offer his congratulations to the Rangers, even though they aren’t his favorite team, and people had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

While Obama is clearly happy for the Rangers, it’s safe to say he’d be much happier to celebrate a championship from a Chicago team next.
