This is something that — thankfully — we rarely see in baseball.
Houston Astros rookie Colin Moran fouled a ball off his own left eye during the team’s game against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday night, and had to be carted off the field.

Really scary scene – Colin Moran seems like a good young player. Wishing him a speedy recovery. pic.twitter.com/2YU6ZCY9RC

Moran was down on the ground for a few minutes being examined by the training staff. At one point, Moran tried to stand back up, but stumbled, and wisely the staff then decided to get the cart out for him.
The Astros announced that Moran was taken to a local hospital, where he’s undergoing tests:
The worst part about this? It was just Moran’s second major-league game.
While it’s not going to make Moran and his face feel any better, there was at least something good to come out of this whole situation for the Astros. Marwin Gonzalez pinch-hit for Moran, and launched a three-run dinger to give the Astros a 6-4 lead:

The Astros would go on to win the game 8-4.
