After fans weren’t allowed in Major League Baseball stadiums during the 2020 season due to the pandemic, fans are returning to stadiums (at least in a limited capacity) for the 2021 campaign. And empty stadiums last season meant that Houston Astros were able to avoid hearing it from opposing fans after details of their 2017 sign-stealing scandal emerged.
Well, the Astros are in Oakland to begin the 2021 season, and they’re definitely hearing it from the Athletics’ fans.
In the player introductions at RingCentral Coliseum on Thursday night, A’s fans booed Astros players loudly, and the banging of trash cans — a method the 2017 World Series champion Astros used to relay the upcoming pitch — could even be heard.
There will be plenty of this across the league all season when the Astros come to town. Fans did not forget.
