In what is seemingly becoming a daily trend in Major League Baseball, an umpire’s blown call has once again become the main story of a game.
Wednesday afternoon’s game between the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Angels ended with Baltimore winning 6-5 after Angels outfielder Jo Adell was thrown out trying to steal second.
The only problem? Adell appeared to be safe.

It definitely looks like Adell’s foot is on the base before the tag. Perhaps more alarming is the fact that the MLB Replay Center in New York upheld umpire Nic Lentz’s call.
Both Adell and the Angels broadcasters were frustrated with how the game ended, as was Angels manager Ron Washington, who had plenty to say after the game.
“The opportunity was there. We took it. From all the replays we saw, it looked like he was safe, but we don’t make the call,” Washington said before later adding, “I was very surprised, but we don’t make that call. From all the angles I saw, he was in there. But, it came from New York. They get the last word.”
A win would have given the Angels their third series victory of the season, but instead, the team falls to 10-15 on the year and remains in third place in the AL West.
