San Francisco Giants assistant coach Alyssa Nakken keeps making history.
In 2020, Nakken became the first full-time female coach in Major League Baseball history. She also was the first base coach for the Giants in an exhibition game in July 2020.
And on Tuesday night, Nakken became the first woman to ever coach on the field during an MLB regular-season game.
San Francisco first base coach Antoan Richardson was ejected during Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres, and Nakken took over the coaching duties for him.
Nakken, 31, initially joined the Giants’ organization as an intern in the baseball ops department in 2014. She was also a college softball star at Sacramento State.
Congratulations to Nakken on the latest history-making achievement.
