Albert Pujols could’ve retired 10 years ago and been a Hall of Fame lock. But, he’s still playing and adding on to his absurd career statistics.
Pujols joined the 600-homer club last year (an achievement I thought didn’t get enough talk), and on Friday night, he joined the 3,000-hit club with a single into right field in Seattle.
Pujols’ Angels teammates ran onto the field to congratulate him after the historic hit in a very cool moment:
Pujols becomes the 32nd player in MLB history to get 3,000 hits, and joins Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Alex Rodriguez in the exclusive 3,000-hit, 600-homer club.
He also becomes the second player from the Dominican Republic to record 3,000 hits, joining Adrian Beltre.
And he’s the only player in MLB history to get 3,000 hits, 600 dingers, and win two World Series titles (which he won with the St. Louis Cardinals.
