Albert Pujols continues to reach major milestones in his remarkable MLB career. On Friday night against the Texas Rangers in Anaheim, Pujols hit career home run No. 661 to move ahead of the legendary Willie Mays for fifth on the all-time list.
And in his next at-bat, he made it 662 career home runs.
No. 4 on the all-time home run list is Alex Rodriguez, who hit 696 dingers. That will be a difficult number for Pujols to reach, but the 40-year-old said in May that he’s not ready to talk retirement. He’s under contract with the Angels through the 2021 season.
But getting to fifth all-time and hitting 662 career home runs is an incredible accomplishment. Congratulations to Pujols.
