Whoever said Major League Baseball is the “no fun league” has never met Texas Rangers teammates Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus. The two are a real-life Abbott and Costello, only instead of doing a bit about baseball players they’re actually baseball players.

On Tuesday night, another turn of the screw played out between the duo. It came in the sixth inning as Elvis Andrus believed he went yard and decided to hot-dog it around the bases.

The only problem? Andrus’ blast actually hit off the left field wall, meaning Andrus had to get on his horse as to not be embarrassingly caught with the longest single (or more likely the longest out) in history.

Andrus was able to get in to second base, and eventually got to home plate later on in the inning. As Andrus made his way through the dugout to celebrate, Beltre decided to note his “displeasure” with those antics on the base paths.

It was simply the latest in the two’s long-standing goal to mess with each other on any and all occasions. The Rangers duo are known to mess with each other in what should be the most serious of situations — infield fly balls, the meeting at the pitcher’s mound and plenty more.

Regardless, Andrus likely learned a valuable lesson and isn’t likely to repeat that home run trot unless its for sure out of the park again. Lest he face the wrath of Adrian Beltre’s glare once more.
