The longest home run of the Statcast era now belongs to the Cleveland Indians’ Abraham Almonte.
Almonte crushed a dinger on Sunday in Oakland that Statcast measured at 505 feet.
Here’s video of the blast, which the announcers didn’t seem all that impressed with:

When I first saw that homer — before seeing the Statcast info — I figured it was 450 feet or so. So, seeing a 505-foot measurement was a bit stunning. NBC Sports’ Bill Baer was also skeptical, and shared this screencap showing the ball seemingly not that far from the 362-foot sign.
Whatever the case, Statcast has it 505 feet, so we’re going to call it 505 feet (for now). And it came on the same day that Statcast measured a Didi Gregorius home run at just 295 feet!
