The latest on New York Yankees mega-star Aaron Judge isn’t great.
When the reigning 2022 AL MVP crashed into the wall at Dodger Stadium, Yankee fans held their breath. He then landed on the Injured List with a toe injury. On Friday, manager Aaron Boone provided a less-than-stellar update on his star player’s progress.
Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reported, “Aaron Judge had another PRP injection in his toe during yesterday’s off-day, per Aaron Boone. There is a second ligament that has been bothering him. Still no timetable for return.”
It isn’t great that Judge is dealing with an additional issue that’s now risen to the surface. He’s vital to the Yankees, whose offense could mightily struggle without him in the lineup for an extended period. He might not hit 62 home runs again this season, but his numbers again have him amongst elite company.
This season, Judge has hit .291/.404/.674, with 19 home runs, 42 runs scored, and 40 RBI. His OPS of 1.078 is only slightly down from his superb 1.111 during his AL MVP campaign in 2022. Those numbers are great and ones that the Yankees could ill-afford to be without.
You might expect that Yankee fans aren’t taking the news well. Well, you’d be right to think so. They and the MLB world reacted to the concerning update on the Yankees superstar.
Yeah he isn’t coming back before the All Star break https://t.co/A7IJJiBkYj
